We lost another one. The University of Colorado has decided to demolish the Red Cross Building.
The Red Cross Building
The Red Cross Building was built in 1918. The Red Cross building is prominently located at the exact center of the Fitzsimons General Hospital post, just north of building 500. The building’s basic design conforms to a standardized military version of the Mission Revival style adopted for use by the Army in the southwest region of the country. The Red Cross building was erected in the shape of a Red Cross, the building is unique in Colorado and at this time is believed to be the only one of its kind in the country.
The University of Colorado is the current owner of the building and is considering demolition to widen Monteview Blvd.
